Leigh & Orange Limited's Innovative Approach to Recycling and Sustainability

The Loop's name is derived from the well-known recycling phrase “close the loop”, which signifies that all resources can be recycled and reused. This philosophy is embodied in the design of the exhibition centre, making it a pioneer in sustainable development.

Spanning 4,000 sq ft inside Devon House, The Loop is composed of three main areas: an entry lobby, an experiential corridor, and a main open display courtyard with recycling facilities. Each area is designed to engage visitors and encourage them to think about sustainability and recycling in new ways.

The design of The Loop is unique due to its limited palette of materials. Recycled timber veneer and recycled material terrazzo flooring were carefully selected to tell a story and provide a continuous theme for visitors. This careful selection of materials not only contributes to the sustainability of the project but also enhances its aesthetic appeal.

The Loop was completed in May 2017 in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. Since its inception, it has served as a model for sustainable design and has encouraged other businesses and individuals to incorporate sustainable practices into their operations and daily lives.

The Loop's innovative design and commitment to sustainability have not gone unnoticed. In 2018, it was awarded Silver in the A' Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design Award. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and a high level of excellence. The Loop's recognition in this category is a testament to its groundbreaking design and its contribution to promoting sustainability and recycling.
